      <image:title>Areas of Expertise - Dr. Dungy's Research Overview</image:title>
<image:caption>Dr. Dungy’s areas of expertise center on public response to police use of force, youth violence, and concentrated neighborhood disadvantage, with a special focus on the experiences of minority youth and the impact of race, class, and gender on criminal justice practices. Her research also focuses on corrections, prisoner reentry and the understanding of recidivism and why and how people with a criminal record manage to stop committing crime. Her mixed-methods qualitative and quantitative research predicts recidivism and desistance outcomes and also explores perceptions of people who offend regarding how they manage reentry and integration back into the community. Her scholarship is centered on improving the reentry outcomes of individuals with a felony record and/or has been formerly incarcerated. Her goal is to produce research that is theoretically informed, empirically rich, and informs criminal justice policy and crime control practices.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The "Defund the Police" movement has sparked widespread debate across various social and political spectrums. The research dives into the perceptions and motivations behind the movement, particularly through the lens of the protesters themselves. Dr. Dungy explores how activists understand and define "defunding" the police, their visions for alternative public safety models, and the perceived benefits and challenges of reallocating police funding towards community-based services. This study seeks to offer a clearer understanding of the movement's goals and the public's response to police reform efforts.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This study investigates how neighborhood contexts—such as poverty levels, access to education, and community cohesion—affect individual decisions to engage in violent behavior. By analyzing environmental factors and socio-economic conditions within various neighborhoods, Dr. Dungy aims to uncover patterns that drive or deter violence. The research highlights the impact of systemic inequality on local communities and how improving neighborhood conditions could lead to a reduction in violence, ultimately contributing to long-term social stability and justice.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Judas Kiss - About the Author</image:title>
<image:caption>Dr. Dungy experienced betrayal from a trusted source in the church that left her devastated. She struggled with immense hurt and pain. She experienced sadness and disappointment at a level that she didn’t think was possible. She had to fight against becoming bitter and had to learn to let her pain go. In the depths of her despair, God showed her that she didn’t have to let the enemy of her soul win. Rather, God revealed to her how to forgive, overcome, and ultimately walk in my purpose. It took operating with a spirit of discernment, acknowledging the pain and crying out to God, confiding in trusted confidants, choosing to forgive, persistent prayer and praise, and recognizing that God can use the betrayal she experienced to fulfill her own God-given purpose. Dr. Dungy understands that many people have experienced betrayal and been wounded in the church – the very sanctuary that should be a place of refuge. She is committed to helping people move past their pain and into a place of healing and restoration while fulfilling their destiny in God.</image:caption>
